The Fleurieu Peninsula sits an hour south of Adelaide and carries a completely different character to the city behind it. Ochre cliffs above clear water, hidden coves in shoulder season, a waterfall tucked into the hills behind the coast, and the granite headland of Granite Island connected to Victor Harbor by a long timber causeway. This cinematic journey moves through the southern Fleurieu coastline during autumn — quiet, unhurried and largely empty of the summer crowd.
Filmed during May 2026 across Carrickalinga Beach, Ingalalla Falls, Victor Harbor, Granite Island and Horseshoe Bay, the film focuses on the atmosphere of the southern coast rather than its attractions — the light on the water, the sound of waves on granite, and the particular stillness of a coastal landscape in shoulder season.
Carrickalinga Beach is one of the Fleurieu’s quieter stretches — a long arc of sand below an ochre headland, clear water and minimal crowds even in peak season. In May it is almost entirely empty. Ingalalla Falls sits inland from the coast in the Inman Valley — a short walk to a waterfall that most visitors to the region never find.
Victor Harbor anchors the southern coast — a heritage town on Encounter Bay with Granite Island sitting offshore, connected by a historic causeway. The island’s granite boulders, native scrub and Southern Ocean views make it one of the more distinctive natural landmarks on this stretch of coast. Horseshoe Bay at Port Elliot closes the journey — a sheltered bay with rock platforms, surf and the wide arc of the southern coastline stretching east.
